During our undergrad at UCLA, we found the perfect loophole to the legal drinking age: brewing our own beer.

We started homebrewing and quickly discovered that beer was not the only delicious product of the brewing process… Each batch also created food that looked, smelled, and tasted like hot cereal.

We were hauling this grain out to the dumpster until we read about other homebrewers baking bread with it. We started baking and selling bread with the modest goal of making enough money to brew beer for free.

We soon realized the possibilities of this idea were much bigger than a few loaves of bread - harvesting and upcycling this grain could create a massive potential food source.

Further research confirmed our suspicions that beer grain has incredible nutritional value. The sugar had gone into our favorite drink - leaving behind protein, fiber, and a whole bunch of micronutrients.

We was decided that a granola bar would be the ideal pilot use of this ingredient - the first ReGrained bar was baked in 2013.

Today, as we harvest this ingredient at scale, we mill it into SuperGrain+ flour. This nutrient-dense flour is the base ingredient of all delicious ReGrained snacks.

The SuperGrain+ Bar has evolved with us, both in taste and purpose. These bars now feature inherently functional ingredients, so they’re as good for you as they are for the planet.

But we’re not stopping at bars. SuperGrain+ flour is as versatile as it is delicious. Savory to sweet - the possibilities are seemingly endless. Join the ReGrained Revolution to see what’s next!
