“Light, yet vibrant ruby in color, this Sangiovese offers up aromas of fresh crushed cherries, cranberries and sandalwood spice. An elegant, earthy tone adds an exciting dimension to the aromas of crisp red fruit. As you aerate this wine, the aromas and flavors intensify and develop into black cherry and red plum.” -Dan Kopache/Winemaker
Complex aromas of apricots, pineapple, oak and vanilla undertones. Good depth of aromas on palate with a creamy texture and lingering finish.
The Old Vines Sauvignon Blanc was fermented in barrel with some minimal lees stirring to create richness and complexity. None of the press wine was used, only free run juice so as to preserve the delicacy and brightness of the fruit. No malolactic fermentation was allowed to preserve the crisp acidity.
Two distinct selections grow on a steep hillside; Clone 1, originally from Chateau d’Yquem, provides structure and backbone and is balanced by the aromatics of the Musqué clone. Both are dry-farmed producing canopies of low-vigor and very small yields. The resulting wine is rich and complex.
