Allergies and Buckwheat and Millet hulls

Are allergies to buckwheat and millet hulls common? How would I know before I order my mattress if I may be allergic to hulls?

Please consult with your doctor if you think you may be sensitive or allergic to either buckwheat or millet. Buckwheat is not actually a wheat as the name suggests, but a relative of rhubarb and sorrel.

We sell thousands of pounds of hulls each month and we have only had three customers report respiratory problems associated with the hulls. In most of those cases the customer knew they were allergic or had a pre-existing respiratory condition. It is of course best to know if you have any sensitivity to these grains before making and sleeping on a hull mattress.

You may want to purchase a sample pod and use it as a pillow before investing in an entire mattress.

If you have sensitivity to one type of hull, please be aware that we do store and package our buckwheat hulls, millet hulls and tubular fabric in the same facility.

Our certified organic, 35 pound, bulk buckwheat hulls never leave their original package (heavy poly bags which are stitched closed at the original supplier's certified organic facility).
